"I settled down to play my waiting game and my ears soon rang with the stillness
of the mountains. Sitting there for a long time, I could feel my personality begin to ebb
away as I slowly became a part of the spruce and the aspen and the mountain itself. I was
completely attuned to the place where I sat, as though I belonged there-my spot on
earth."
Anyone who has spent much time in the woods alone knows the feelings Bruce Brady is
describing in this passage. These stories from the typewriter of Outdoor Life's
Editor-at-Large run the gamut of hunting experiences: from bull frogs to bull elk; from
squirrels in Mississippi to Dall rams in Alaska.
Stalk with Brady on his Game Trails, which wind all across North America, and discover
here the experiences savored by all partakers and lovers of The Great Outdoors. Sometimes
one's life hangs by just a hair on the Game Trails of bear country; or on the
cliff-clinging suspenseful horseback hunts of high mountain country. Sometimes the
poignancy of a simple father-and-son hunt in the nearby Game Trails of the hills of home
makes one's heart swell with warmth and pride. Where can a husband and wife be closer than
in sharing Game Trails through wild country together; experiences that will last a
lifetime!
